About the Tutor
Gillian Sulley BA(Hons), PGCE, Postgrad. Cert. Ed (Additional Learning Needs: Dyslexia), Cert. TESOL (Trinity College, London)
Current DBS Certificate
Originally from Redcar in North Yorkshire, Gillian studied English at the University of Durham and went on to qualify as a primary school teacher at its School of Education in 1991. After teaching just about all subjects to all ages from 5 to adult, mainly in the Windsor area, she finally settled with her daughter and Welsh husband on the North Wales/Cheshire border in 2007.
Following several years working as a NE Wales-based research assistant for two major Cardiff University family projects, she returned to education. Working in two large local high schools, she taught, tutored and supported students in the English and Additional Learning Needs departments. Inspired by the challenges faced by the wonderful students with dyslexia and other learning needs she encountered there, Gillian qualified as a dyslexia specialist at Wrexham Glyndŵr University.
Gillian has worked as a private tutor for over twenty-five years. She holds professional membership of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties), and firmly believes that all students can achieve their potential with expert support and the chance to learn away from the stresses of the school classroom.
